Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to determine and compare the burnout levels of primary school inspectors according to their some social, demographic and professional characteristics. The study is conducted in a descriptive way. The universe of the research consists of 242 primary school inspectors who work in Ankara (175), Malatya (52) and Muş (15) provinces during the 2008-2009 educational period. In the research, “Maslach Burnout Inventory” which was developed by Maslach and Jackson were used to get data. According to the results of research, the following findings were obtained: primary school inspectors live the exhaustion at medium level in terms of ‘emotional exhaustion’ and at low level in terms of ‘personal success and insensitive’. The burnout levels of primary school inspectors showed differences according to the variables marital status, perceptions of respectability and the future of their profession, participate in social and cultural activities experience and seniority. Inspectors who has just started his/her new task, living separated from his/her family, don t attend cultural and social activities and his/her work is heavy should be given to ways of coping with burnout. In addition, personal rights of education inspectors should be improved.
