Analyzing High School Students’ Attitudes towards the Student Selection Examination (SSE) in Different Variables (The Case of Diyarbakır)
Abstract :
This research is done for determining high school students ‘attitudes towards the Student Selection Examination (SSE). In the research, the descriptive survey method is used. Working group of the study is 1306 students who enrolled in secondary schools in Diyarbakır city in 2007-2008 school years. Research data are summed up with “The attitude scale towards the Student Selection Examination (SSE)” developed by Ekici (2005). Cronbach-Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale is figured out 0.88. Data are analyzed using the techniques of descriptive statistics, independent groups t-test, one-way ANOVA and test of Tukey HSD. According to the overall results, students’ attitudes towards the Student Selection Examination (SSE) are on medium level. Although students’ attitudes towards the Student Selection Examination depend on sexes, classes, overall success level monthly incomes of families and; it does not show a meaningful difference according to the primary schools they were educated and high schools they are educated.
