Determining Performance of Elementary Students related to Problem Posing Activities Requiring Four Arithmetical Operations with Natural Numbers
Abstract :
In that study it was aimed to find out elementary students performance on problem posing activities including operations with natural numbers. In that reason a problem posing test consisting of 4 problem posing situations were asked to students. Totally 452 students attended. 182 of them were 4th grade and 270 were 5th grade students. According to the findings of the study it can be concluded that students posed problems using different meanings of four arithmetical operations with natural numbers. Besides, in that study some issues were emerged like posing problems using different arithmetical operation, using missing data, not giving any answer, using decimal numbers, writing mathematical exercises and posing problems for different mathematical topics.
