Abstract :
The aim of this study is to evaluate the attitudes of the 2 nd grade students of the department of classroom teaching towards the visual arts field of fine arts. For this study, the scale developed by Wilson Sanders and Michael Stuckhard “Wilson-Stuckhardt Art Attitude Scale/Wilson-Stuckhardt Fine Arts Attitude Scale” were used. The study group consists of 135 students who attend 2nd class of department of elementary school teaching during the 2010-2011 academic year at the Dicle University Ziya Gokalp Faculty of Education and Gazi University Faculty of Education. T-test, analysis of variance and Sheffe test were used to analyze the data. According to the findings of the study, students agree with the positive statements in the Wilson-Stuckhardt Fine Arts Attitude Scale while they do not agree with the negative statements. In addition, this study determined that students’ attitudes pertaining to the visual arts did not differ according to ‘university’ and ‘high school of graduation’ variables.
