The Competencies of Primary School Supervisors In The Perceptions of Supervisors and Teachers
Abstract :
In this study, which is in a descriptive research design, it is aimed to determine the perceptions of supervisors and teachers working at primary schools about the competency levels of primary school supervisors in the dimensions of management, leadership, instruction and guidance. The population of this study consists of primary school teachers and primary school supervisors working at Malatya city center at 2008-2009 academic year. The sample of this study consists of 457 teachers working at 25 primary schools that were selected randomly from the population and a total of 36 supervisors. The results of this study showed that there were meaningful differences between the views of teachers and supervisors at all items. While the teachers perceived supervisors as incompetent in all dimensions, the supervisors perceived themselves as competent in all dimensions. There were meaningful differences between the views of teachers according to the grouping variables of gender, branch and education level. Also, the views of the supervisors vary according to the grouping variable of branch.
