Abstract :
Instructors working in teacher training institutions constitutes an important link in the education chain. Therefore, instructors opinions related to Standards for the21th Century Learner are also become important. In this study, it s aimed to take views of instructors, working in the faculties of education, about 21th Century Learning Standards and lifelong learning. Lifelong Learning Scale and open ended questions which are prepared according to the Standards for the21th Century Learner determined by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) were used as data collection tools. In the study, the descriptive model created with the quantitative data was presented as frequency and percentage, and qualitative data is firstly subjected to content analysis and then descriptive analysis. In the light of the findings, it have been reached that the instructors (who participated) in this study have a favourable opinion and a strong sensitivity on lifelong learning, but they haven t expected level of comprehensive information about the Standards for the 21th Century Learner themes and sub-themes. Suggestions were made in actions to be taken generally in the education system and in universities which have an important responsibility in raising teachers who will shape the future generations.
