Abstract :
In this study, differences in 8th grade students’ Math anxiety was investigated based on their gender, sibling, and parents’ education level. A scale developed by Bindak (2005) was used for data collection to realise this purpose. The scale was administered with the participation of randomly selected 158 students who were studying in Bartin city centre during 2013- 2014 academic year. In the research, a sort of comparison scanning model of the related scanning models was used. The findings revealed that while there was not any statistically significant difference between Math anxiety and students’ gender, number of sibling and parents’ education level, there was a statistically significant difference between students’ anxiety level and academic achievement. Students with a high level of Math anxiety had a low level of academic achievement, while students with low level of Math anxiety had a higher level of academic achievement.
