Abstract :
In this study, the activities in the biology units of the Science and Technology course books of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades published by MEB in 2014 have been analyzed with respect to Longfield’s scientific process skills. Document analysis was used in the study to collect and analyse the data. The results showed there are six types of activities in the 5th grade textbook, three types of activities in the 6th and 7th grade textbooks and two types of activities in the 8th grade Science and Technology textbook. The results revealed that the numbers of the biology units’ related activities in the Science and Technology course books of 5th and 6th grades are insufficient. The results, also, displayed that the activities in the biology units of the Science and Technology course books of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades are inadequate regarding measurement and hypothesizing skills. The number of activities covering intermediate and advanced level skills in the 7th and 8th grades Science and Technology textbooks should be increased.
