Title Of Article :
The Effects of Common Knowledge Construction Model on Sixth Grade Students’ Academic Achievement: Light and Sound Unit
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of science teaching based on Common Knowledge Construction Model (CKCM) on the academic achievement of sixth graders. This study was conducted with 76 students in 2013-2014 academic year. Each experimental and control group consists of 38 students. Semi-experimental design was utilized for this study and Light and Voice Unit Achievement Test (LVUAT) was used to collect data. The data obtained from the study was analyzed by using t-test and f-test. Findings of this study revealed that both 5E teaching model applied in control group and the CKCM applied in experimental group are effective on the academic achievement of sixth graders. Yet, it is appeared that the CKCM applied in experimental group is more effective on academic achievement and has longer term effect than the model applied in the control group. The effects of CKCM on science achievement could be measured better if it is implemented in different science units.
