The purpose of this study is to investigate from different perspectives the 8th grade students’ self-cultural perception and their attitude towards and awarenes of other cultures as well as their relationship with students of other cultures; to reveal the contribution of the school and the students expectations from the school in this sense. The study is a descriptive fieldwork where qualitative research is used. The participants of this study consists of the 8th grade students who are studying in one of the primary schools in the province of Mardin and in Midyat town in 2013/2014 school year. A scale is prepared by taking the views of specialists with the purpose of examining the views of the children. The data that are gained through the meetings made with students are analized by being transcribed. When the result of this analysis is assessed under the light of the related literature, it is revealed that the students who belong to different language, religion and ethnical groups have the codes of living together; that they have positive attitude and awareness toward each other; that they adopt tolerance, respect and equality which are the requirements to live together and communicate in this way; and that the school/school environment makes important contributions to this experience.
