PERCEPTION OF BRANCH TEACHERS TOWARDS EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH: A METAPHORICAL STUDY
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to reveal the perceptions of branch teachers about educational researches through metaphors. The study was carried out on 210 branch teachers working in Diyarbakır city center during the fall semester of 2016-2017 academic year. The data are collected with forms submitted to the participant, such as Education researches…like this, because .... The obtained data were analyzed using qualitative methods and tabulated using frequency and percentage values. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the participants produced 192 valid metafores for educational researches. When examined in terms of their common characteristics, these metaphors were examined under two main categories, namely positive and negative, and in nine separate conceptual categories. It has been achieved that the metaphors that the branch teachers set for educational researches can be evaluated as positive 69.27% and 30.73% in the negative category. When positive and negative categories produced by branch teachers are examined according to gender variable, because of the high number of male teachers, positive and negative opinions were different in favor of male teachers. According to seniority variable; differences between positive thinking teachers favor for teachers with 1-10 years of seniority, among the negatively thoughtful teachers, it is seen that there is not a big difference between the teachers who have 1-10 years of seniority and the teachers who have 11 years and over the years in terms of educational researches.
