Examining the Relationship Between the Academic Delay of Gratification and the Perfectionism of the Adolescents with Academic Stress

Main aim of this research is examining the relationship between the academic delay of gratification and the perfectionism of the adolescents with academic stress. 9th and 12th grades of high school students who study at Çerkezköy in Tekirdağ establish the study environment of this research. 342 9th and 12th grades students (188 women, 154 men) chosen by using random cluster method who study at several high schools in Çerkezköy establish the sample of this research. Relational screening model was used in this research. Multidimensional perfectionism scale, stress inventory related with academic expectations, the academic delay of gratification scale abd personal information form were used in collecting data. In analysis of data; simple coreelation, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test were used. According to the research’s findings; while there is a meaningful relationship in a nagative way between the level of adolescents’ perfectionism and the perceived academic stress, there is a meaningful relationship in a positive way between the academic delay of gratification. In addition to this; it was found that there is a meaningful relationship in a negative way between the perceived academic stress and the academic delay of gratification.
