Abstract :

In this study, it is aimed to reveal the metaphorical perceptions of prospective science teachers about physics. The study group of the study was informed that the second year of the 2017-2018 academic year, during the period, Dicle University, Ziya Gökalp Education Faculty, 60 prospective teacher candidates who are studying in Science and Science Department. Teacher candidates who participated in the study were asked to complete the sentences: It is similar to physics ...... because .... Data obtained has been evaluated via content analysis method. It was determined that 60 prospective teacher candidates developed 44 different metaphors in the research and these developed metaphors were evaluated in 11 different categories. It has been found out that prospective science teacher candidates often report opinions on physics. Moreover, it has been determined that prospective science teachers use physics-related life, hard, formula, mathematics and space metaphors.
