A Review On The Character Education Competence Beliefs Of Preschool Teachers
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between character education competence beliefs, levels of creativity and communication skills of preschool teachers. The research also examined whether the teachers competence beliefs of character education differ according to the type of school and the age group in which teachers work. The research was carried out by using a relational screening model. The universe of the study consists of 754 preschool teachers working in kindergartens of official primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, independent kindergartens and special preschool education institutions in the district of Keçiören in Ankara in 2017-2018 Academic Year. The sample of the study is composed of 350 preschool teachers chosen by simple random sampling. As data collection tools; “Personal Information Form”, “Scale of Character Education Competence Belief”, Self-Assessment Scale for Creativity” and “Communication Skills Assessment Scale” were used. According to the results of the research, teachers character education competence beliefs does not show a significant difference with regard to the age groups they work (p 0.05); but shows a meaningful difference regarding school type (p 0.05) and the difference is in favor of teachers working in a private institutions of preschool education. Additionally, it was determined that there is a positive and moderate relationship between the teachers character education competience beliefs and their creativity levels. It was determined that there is a positive and moderate relationship between the teachers character education competience beliefs and communication skills.
