Abstract :
Universities, promoting economical development of the area they are settled in, also have various effects on the society s socio-cultural structure. Universities gather students and academic personals who have various cultures, and provide cultures with interaction. This process causes changes in the socio-economical structures of the areas where the universities are settled in. From this important role of the universities, it has been aimed with this study to determine the perceptions and expectations of the local community about Bayburt University. The data are collected by questioning method and questioners are carried out as face to face interviews. In conclusion of the study, it has been found out that Bayburt University has brightened the economical life of the city and new shops have been opened, it has been a sign of appealingness for new investments, University develops day by day and increases the life standards of the city.
