THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FIRMS’ USAGE LEVEL OF ICT AND FIRM PERFORMANCE: AN APPLICATION ON THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR
Abstract :
Information and communication technology (ICT), which is the main indicators of the knowledge economy, has become main factors of competitive power for the firm. Aim of the study is to examine relationships between firms’ usage level of ICT and firm performance operating in the manufacturing sector. The data have been obtained from face-to-face method. The result of the study show that ICT is used for variety of reasons such as respond quickly to consumer demand, increase the quality of services, customer relations development, ease of trade process. Another result concluded in this study is that ICT carries the firm to a more competitive position by increasing the firm productivity and develops general performance. Besides, it was found that high invesment cost of ICT is more important for small and medium-sized enterprises and growth and level of profitability is higher in firms which more invest in ICT.
