The Conceptual structure of Geography Curriculum (2005)
Abstract :
The purpose of the study which is “Document Analysis or Content Analysis” is to determine the conceptual Structure of the Geography Curriculum. It is also the aim of this study to examine some of the notable concepts that would come to the fore in the table obtained and to compare the results with those of previously implemented Geography curricula. Certain texts produced by a certain committee could be the reason of an interest for researchers as these are unobtrusive und closed to external influences. The new curriculum developed by the Ministry of Education was put into practice in schools in the 2005-2006 Academic year. After having presented the paper titled “Our Geography Perspectives” featuring the analysis of contents of the previously implemented curriculum and course books, we examined the new curriculum in order to see the points of departures and new dimensions. Although the differences in these two programs regarding their approaches support our comparisons; it is meaningful for the new curriculum to take into account the new trends adopted by the Ministry to an extent that has never been observed.
