Abstract :
The Port Zonguldak, on the Western Black Sea Part of The Black Sea Region, was founded on the seaside of Zonguldak city center. It is one of the third important ports of Western Black Sea Region with Ereğli and Bartın Ports. The port which was used in the past as transporting of both goods and passengers is used for only the aim of cargo transportation today. However also cargo transportation has been rather backward in recent years because of the low coal production in the area. In the year 2008, 680.328 tons of loading- unloading processes were done in the port. The port Zonguldak is run by Turkish Coal Association. From the year 1996, by its being assigned as a parking lot for the trucks and Direk Rıhtımı ‘Gümrük Sahası’, sheduled Ro-Ro journeys were begun between the ports Zonguldak and Yalta ( Ukraine). With the result of the decrease at Turkish Coal Association’s manpower, it is intended to refresh the region economy in the short run by being made the coal production to third persons via the way of booking. In this way it is certain that cargo transportation is going to increase in the Port Zonguldak which has lost its significance in country sea transportation in recent years.
