Abstract :
In the current study into the changes in the American geography from the first half of the 20th century on Carl Ortwin Sauer, the changes that Carl Ortwin Sauer, who is known as the founder of American cultural geography studied at University of California, Berkeley School, realized within both himself and the American Geography were examined. For this purpose, both some of his studies were examined and other works that reflect his scientific understanding and his life were drawn on. Besides, the ideas that Sauer reacted against and his relevant studies were also handled. Meanwhile, this study touches upon the ideas of Sauer and other scientists about cultural landscaping, cultural geography, history of culture, and his ideas and handles geography as a cultur history in the territorial integrity, studies an interdisciplinary geographical studies etc.contributions to the field of geography were evaluated.
