Abstract :
The Elmalı landslide is situated in Elmalı quarter boundaries nearly 1,5 km from Madenköprübasi town, spir district, Erzurum province. It was formed as a result of the slide of Lower Cretaceous sediment community towards Bagların stream valley. The landslide, which occurred a long time ago and which still maintains its activity, has a complex type slide structure. The landslide area is of 1,1 km² and has a length of 2050 metres. Its width is 590 metres, and the thickness of the slided mass is 80 metres. That landslide, which greatly changed the area geomorphologically and damaged the Elmalı District, has caused important socio-economic problems still waiting for solution.
