In our country are found lakes of different characteristics. An inseperable part of natural environment, these lakes make significant contributions to the ecosystem. Human beings, a part of the ecosystem, have always benefited from lakes to get drinking-water and irrigate their lands.When historically studied, the lake probably employed for such purposes in the most ancient times is Lake Turna, a lake situated in the basin of Lake Van at an altitude of 2544 m. 2800 years ago, the Urartians tried to make use of this lake by purifying its water with giving no harm to its environment.
