Abstract :
Investigating earthquake inexperienced and experienced students perceptions by the Metaphor analysis, sampling group of this research consists of students studying in Ankara and in Düzce 2012 academic year. When 52 students who participated from Ankara in the study group who have not experienced earthquakes before, 65 students participated in the study from Düzce experienced earthquake on both August 17th and November 12th in 1999. While students who have experienced the earthquake created a total of 44 metaphors, inexperienced students remained at number 26 metaphor. Experienced students gathered in 8 groups category of metaphor, and inexperienced student group gathered in 6 groups. The largest difference emerged between earthquake experienced and inexperienced students perceptions were in ‘imagined religious belief’ category and the ‘learning environment’ category. While students who have experienced earthquake produced categories as ‘Day of Judgment’, ‘death’, ‘Angel of Death’; students who are not experienced in earthquake expressed metaphors as ‘natural phenomenon’ and ‘unhealthy life’.
