Abstract :
Because of the urbanization tendency, which has accelerated after 1950s, almost 80% of our population has been living in cities today. But some problems caused by the lifestyle in cities (environmental and noise pollution, transportation problems, stress etc.) direct people towards rural areas in which such problems don’t exist. As a matter of fact, tendency and interest towards rural areas has been increasing everyday. Besides that, when the fact that rural tourism can not improve in all of the rural areas is taken into consideration, it can be said that, areas which have necessary substructure and attract people with their original elements besides natural richness, are quite advantageous in this respect.Maden village and upland, which is the topic of our research, has a significant potential especially in terms of rural tourism with its attractive natural environment, traditional lifestyle and traditional house architecture. But there hasn’t been a sufficient development in this area. In this study, which aims at improving the present potential in the field with a reasonable approach, it is firstly attempted to mention major geographical and traditional features, which are resources for tourism in the village, then to make some solution suggestions on the issue of protection and promotion of this traditional structure and transform it from trouble into reward. In this context, a significant part of documentary data used in our research is based on onsite observation, survey and interview results.
