Abstract :
Environmental problems, which intensifying with the society brutal and boundary attitude toward the nature, has increased a dizzying speed with industrial revolution, urbanization and development processes. While the developed countries begin looking for ways to deal with this fast growing big problem, the developing countries have determined growth and development as priority targets and have constantly postpone the prevention of the environmental problems. As in all other developing countries, in our country, it has been observed important environmental problems in urbanization and development process as growth occurs without considering environmental factors. As well as in other cities, in our country, in Bitlis City, important environmental issues has emerged in the process of rapid urbanization and growth. Environment problems which the subject of the study, in Bitlis City, have occurred with the effects of natural and human factors. In Bitlis air, water and soil pollution has reached threaten level for human health because both topographical and climatic conditions and problems arising from human activities. In addition, unplanned urbanization is among the major reasons of environment pollution and loses of the green spaces. Also unplanned construction, the product of the unplanned urbanization, has caused great harm to the culture of the accident city and historical monuments. In this study, environmental problem, which reaching significant amounts, will be handled and to minimize these problems, solution proposals will be present.
