Abstract :
The main purpose of this study is to examine the moderator role of gender variables on the relationship between perceived parent prosocial behaviors and empathic tendency in counseling and guidance students. 345 university students, attending department counseling and guidance, at Dokuz Eylül University, Ege University and Pamukkale University participated as subjects in the study. Data were collected by using to measure the prosocial behaviors and the empathic responses of the parents and Empathy Scale. For moderation analysis was conducted hierarchical regression analysis. Hierarchical regression analysis indicated that gender did moderate the relationship between emotional expressions of the fathers and empathic tendency. However, other findings showed that gender had no moderating effect on the relationship between other variables and empathic tendency.
