Abstract :
This study aims to develop a relevant and reliable measuring tool which will be used to determine the attitudes of prospective teachers about distance learning. In order to prepare the scale, 83 students, who are in third and fourth grade, enrolled in Computer and Instructional Technologies departments were asked to write a composition containing their own views on the materials of distance learning, the environments used, methods used, goals of distance learning and about the distance learning itself. As the result of literature review and analysis of data retrieved from students, a form consisting of 83 items was prepared. Expert view was employed for the content validity of the form obtained. As the result of expert view, scale with 35 items was obtained. The trial version of the form was applied on a group of 121 people. In relation with structural validity of the scale, basic components analysis was used and a Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was applied. Through, EFA, a construct with 35 items and a single factor was achieved. It was determined that the factor load values of items in the factor were between .30 and .74 and that the factor explained 28 % of the total variance. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was implemented in order to test the accuracy of structure revealed by EFA. According to CFA results, it was seen that all fit indexes (GFI 0.90 RMSEA: 0.021) had acceptable values. As a result of tests conducted for the reliability of scale, internal consistency factor (Cronbach Alpha) was determined as .89. As a result, with this study, a reliable attitude scale towards distance learning with a single factor and 35 items was developed
