A Novel Analysis In Terms Of Understanding Material Culture Components: Ince Memed
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to show how material culture components are handled in the masterpieces which are examined in International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Turkish Lesson and to show how the open-minded component in IB Learner Profile are combined with the aims and objectives of IBDP Turkish and MEB Turkish Literature lessons. For this purpose, a novel chosen from IBDP Turkish prescribed book list was examined in the light of The New Historicism with descriptive analysis and coding methods through determined material culture components. In the study that questioned “How the material culture components in Ince Memed can be classified and interpreted in the context of The New Historicism? How can students benefit from Ince Memed as a learning material to digest cultural diversity and open-mindedness?”, the open-minded component in IB learner profile and cultural aims and objectives of the lessons were found supporting each other. It is concluded that material culture components found in the work help ones to investigate non-material culture components and also open-mindedness component of IB learner profile can be gained by combining lesson’s aims-objectives in a national and international framework.
