Abstract :
The fundamental purpose of this study is to examine the formation of fundamental composition elements and their relation to script. Using descriptive survey model with the aim of examining the relationship between composition and script in exlibris design, the study provides general information on the definition and history of exlibris, composition and script, followed by an evaluation and examination of sample designs. The study provides sample analyses on the relation of composition and script in the designs of exlibris artists including Vladimir Zuev, Jiri Brazda, Corina Nani, Wojciech Luczak, Hasip Pektaş and H. Müjde Ayan. The results in this study may contribute to the students’ ability to see the elements of composition, to gain and reinforce knowledge, to examine, analyze, interpret and evaluate the relation of composition and script. The study may also serve as a guide for individuals learning to design exlibris. It may enable students to compare exlibris designs.
