Abstract :
In this study, genetic variation of oyster populations in Çanakkale Strait and Gulf of Izmir was aimed to determine with starch gel electrophoresis. Genetic similarities between oyster populations from these two regions were examined by evaluating the expression of using Pgm, Mdh, Est and General Protein (Prot) loci. Separation of enzymes types in considered populations; Est was monomorphic; Mdh, Pgm and Prot were polymorphic. In addition, two loci were determined for Pgm enzyme system (Pgm-1 and Pgm-2). For both oyster populations; heterozygosity for Mdh, Pgm-1, Pgm-2 and Prot were found respectively 0.20, 0.58, 0.32 and 0.55. In the study, genetic similarity values between İzmir and Çanakkale populations by Mdh, Pgm-1, Pgm-2 and Prot loci were respectively 1.000, 0.999, 0.996 and 0.888. These results show that both populations are genetically close to each others.
