Abstract
In this study, population parameters of the wedge clam Donax trunculus (Linnaeus, 1758) were estimated from the natural stock in the Sea of Marmara. Samples were collected for 12 consecutive months (May 2007 – April 2008) in an unexploited population in west part of the Sea of Marmara. Growth parameters of D. trunculus were determined by length frequency distributions. The growth parameters and growth performance index obtained were L∞= 40.05 mm, K= 0.69 year-1, C= 1, WP= 0.71 of year (August) and Ø = 3.04. D. trunculus population showed a longevity of 4.35 years, mortality (Z) and survival rate (St) were estimated as 0.998 year-1 and 0.37 year-1, respectively. Spawning season, estimated from condition index, occurred between May and July.
