Operation of Turkish government research vessels

Research vessels are one of the most important infrastructures components of marine researches. Although developing satellite technology facilitate data collection on marine and marine resources, it has not ousted the research vessels Researches on marine and marine resources have been carried on by the research institutes owned universities, private sectors and ministries. These research institutes have research vessels that have been designed for different purposes and they vary in size and capacity. They are of great importance technical capabilities and designing of research vessels. In addition, effective utilization of the research vessels and their running are important as their technical capacities. It is known that research institutes encounter several problems about the running of the research vessels. On the basis of the data collected from questionnaire, it has been reviewed some running methods for using research vessels in academic researches more efficiently and providing financial resources. In this study, it has been collected data on how they operate their research vessels and finance from the research institutes owned research vessels. Based on this review, several suggestions on running of the government research vessels in Turkey have been made.
