Abstract
Bronchogenic carcinoma involving the carina or tracheobronchial angle still represents a challenge to thoracic surgens due to problems related to surgical technique and airway management. A 43 year-old patient with hemoptysis was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer by fiberoptic bronchoscopic biopsy. He underwent a Barclay operation. Neither complications nor morbidity were seen after surgery. After a 34 month follow up period there was no metastasis or relaps. Carinal sleeve resections can be performed with acceptable mortality and morbidity rates in selected patients with tumors involving the tracheobronchial angle. We aim to present this rare operation in the light of pertinent literature.
