Global Crises Effects on the Unrecorded Employment and Informal Sector in Turkey
Abstract :
The latest crisis originated from the American financial markets and spread in raid way.Particularly when EU, which is the “natural trade partner” of the USA, becomes an actor of the crisis starting from England and moved to Germany and France, the process of Turkey being effected from the crisis also started.The global economical crisis‟ effect the economies of the nations by domestic and international markets. The foreign trade causes wage imbalances between the workforces of different kinds. While the people who work in labor intensive jobs cannot get their salaries, the wages of white collar workers tend to rise. The developing countries are gradually using more and more qualified work force inside the country and this causes wage imbalances between the sectors which use qualified staff in capital intense environment and sectors which do not use qualified work force (or use proportionally lower qualified work force) in labor intense environment. The reasons of labor intense sectors being effected from the global crisis environment and tend to head to the unrecorded business will be depicted in our study in a detailed manner.The aim of this study is to investigate how the financial crisis affects the reel economy in scope of employment and unrecorded sector. The first part of the study is comprised of past financial crisis and the evaluation of the labor market in scope of the reel crisis.The subject of the relationship between unrecorded employment and foreign trade is discussed in the second part of the study. It is considered to employ some analytical methods in order to evaluate this relationship. In the study it is also aimed to present the reasons of the unrecorded economy and to unveil the results of it. As the conclusion, it is wished to develop the convenient politic measures in order to decrease the unrecorded economy.
