Examination of Secondary School Teachers’ Perceptions of Organizational Trust in Terms of Various Variables
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to investigate the teachers’ perceptions of organizational trust in secondary schools according to gender, marital status and seniority variables. The study was conducted with 325 teachers working in secondary schools in Ankara, in the second term of 2013-1014 educational year. Within this scope, ‘Organizational Trust Scale-OTS’, consisting of 22 items and three dimensions, was applied to participants. The gathered data were analyzed with descriptive techniques and multivariate statistical methods like multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). After the analysis, it was found that teachers’ organizational trust level was at a medium level. Besides, teachers’ level of trust in administrator was found higher than the level of trust in colleagues and trust in stakeholders. Moreover, the views of participants on trust in stakeholders differed according to gender. Results showed that men trusted stakeholders more than women did. On the other hand, the level of teachers’ perceptions of organizational trust did not differ according to their marital status and seniority.
