Title Of Article :
Preschool Period: Parenting Attitudes
Abstract :
This study examines parenting attitudes towards children aged between 4 and 6 using an explanatory mixed-methods design. Initially, quantitative data was gathered from 258 parents using the Parents’ Attitude Scale (PAS), and then interviews were conducted with 20 of them to collect additional qualitative data to explain the quantitative results. The quantitative data was analyzed using independent samples t-tests and one-way ANOVAs, while analysis of the qualitative data utilized the word-list technique. The results indicated that there were statistically significance differences between the parenting attitudes of participants based on their gender, region of current residence, education level, age, age at marriage, and number of children. Also, it was found that most of the parents were aware of their parenting attitudes and explained them using words that paralleled the language used in the parenting literature. They also stated that their parenting attitudes were mostly influenced by their upbringing and psychological mood.
