The Marriage Expectation Scale: A Study of Validity and Reliability

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to adapt the “Marital Expectation Scale” developed by Jones and Nelson (1996) into Turkish and to conduct the validity and reliability analysis. The research has been conducted on 440 university students from Faculty of Education in Dokuz Eylul University. First of all, the language validity of the scale has been analyzed and language validity coefficient has been found as .98. Internal consistency coefficient has been calculated as .93 and test-retest reliability coefficient has been calculated as .97. Single-factor structure of scale has been tested via confirmatory factor analysis. The results of the research point out that the single-factor structure of scale has been confirmed and can be used in measuring marital expectations.
