Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to determine the features of female and male school supervisor. This research is qualitative research. The research data were analyzed with content analysis. As a result supervisor qualifications and features are seven themes and these are: Contemporary supervision, human relations and communication, vocational qualifications, personal features, development centeredness, motivation to job and diligence. It was concluded that successful female and male school supervisors’ features and qualifications are these: To see supervision as a development process, to share information, to go to supervision after preparation, giving constructive feedback, not to see supervision as nitpicking, to be based on problem solving, to supervise according to legislation and science, communication, empathy, human relations, seeing everyone respectable, good listening, effective speaking, to behave ethically, to know profession, to know legislation, good education, professional experience, leadership, good observation, time management, objectiveness, care, determination, friendliness, giving trust, well dressed, patience, self-confidence, tolerance, being principled, to be researcher, self-improvement, to be open to innovation, to participate in in-service training, to believe in the importance of supervision, to love profession, diligence, work discipline, responsibility and being planned. Many of these frequencies of female and male supervisor qualifications are similar. But male supervisors stated to see supervision as a development process and ethical behavior more than females. On the other hand females stated to be caring and to be researcher more than males.
