Abstract :
In this study six buttoned mosques have been investigated at the villages of Belenalan, Çimi, Değirmenlik, Emiraşıklar, Güçlüköy and Hüsamettin, all of which were investigated in consequence of the field research conducted in 41 villages and 6 towns of Akseki in Antalya Province. While the mosques at the villages of Çimi, Değirmenlik ve Emiraşıklar exhibit a square-like plan, those at the villages of Belenalan, Güçlüköy and Hüsamettin have a longitudinal rectangular form. All of these mosques are covered by a plain wooden ceiling in the interior and externally by a hipped roof. The indigenous minarets of the mosques at the villages Belenalan, Çimi, Güçlüköy and Hüsamettin consist of a wooden balcony, that’s şerefe, placed on a wooden pole. The tops of the octagonally-planned wooden balconies are crowned by a cone, in its shape. The construction technique of the mosques is a masonry wall of ruble stone reinforced with balks of timber arranged vertically and horizontally. Since the external ends of these timbers have been placed to project 15-20 cm from the walls, this technique is termed a buttoned wall by the local inhabitants.
