Abstract :
One finding frequently recognized in the literature is the unequally distributed patterns of participation in cultural activities. Although contemporary studies have shown that cultural participation is differentiated across income, education and gender, the effect of cohort and age on social inequality is not sufficiently discussed. In this paper, using an analysis of the Antalya Aging Study (AAS) dataset, patterns of cultivated disposition are examined and the effects of cohorts are tested. Results show that in addition to gender and classes, age affects the levels of highbrow consumption practices. The intensity of cultural inequality can be traced in patterns of cultural consumption practices and reinforces generational gaps in cultural fields.
