Abstract :
Mad honey intoxication is the cause of a rare food poisoning which has been known from ancient times in the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey. The most frequent symptoms of the intoxication are hypotension and bradycardia. The poisoning is due to the concentrated grayanotoxine (andromedotoxine) content of the honey made by the bees from the wild flowers of the rhodendron species. In this case report, we presented a case of a 72- year-old man showing life threatining symptoms of hypotension and bradycardia following the ingestion of mad honey under the light of the literature.
