Abstract :
Special study modules (SSM) are recently introduced education activities in medical education and adopted by many medical schools rapidly to strengthen their core curriculum. The primary aim of this application is to provide medical students with opportunities to study on and run with the topics which they are especially interested in. Also there are some secondary aims such as enhancing critical thinking, time management and communication skills of the students, or teaching them how to access required scientific information. SSM in Akdeniz University started first in academic year 2008-2009. The aim of this paper is to describe a SSM module titled Preparation for an effective presentation which was conducted in 2009- 2010 academic year and to present feed-back results obtained from the applicants.
