Appendicitis in children
Abstract :
Appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency in children. It mostly occurs between ages 10 and 12 years. Children commonly present with perforated appendicitis, because many symptoms of appendicitis are nonspecific and mimic various diseases. The diagnosis of appendicitis is mainly based on a detailed history and physical examination, and is supported by laboratory and radiologic evaluation. The most widely accepted treatment of appendicitis is appendectomy. Early diagnoses and treatment are the most important points for preventing complications of appendicitis.
