The Perception of Colour to Different Age Groups of Women
Abstract :
Purpose of this study, which is for women divided into four groups at the level of the primary-school, university, middle aged and elderly, is effectiveness of luminous (RGB-primary) and material (CMY-secondary) color concepts in perception and color preferences of women in various age groups. A survey in two stages has been conducted with women in four different age groups residing in Istanbul. In the first stage, by forming a shade card with six basis colors and by using the tonal differences of 6 primary colors in each card. It is investigated how close they are to primary color concepts in printing and which tones of these colors they perceive mostly. In the second stage, their favorite colors are identified by applying the survey. In result of research, with the data obtained from two-staged survey, it is checked if there is a difference in color perception among age groups. Through these determinations, the color preferences of different age groups and how they can identify primary (RGB) and secondary (CMY) colors that form the base of color and how accurate they perceive them are determined.
