Abstract :
The demand for energy is increasing every day parallel with the technological developments after Industrial Revaluation and changing life styles. The energy crisis in 1970s gives way to understand the fossil fuel being used intensely after Industrial Revaluation is not environment friendly and renewable; it helps to understand the importance of alternative energy sources. The construction sector causing environmental pollution by using a considerable part of nature wastes a big amount of energy from raw material extraction phase going through construction, usage and demolition phases. In this sense solving environmental and energy problems are in the field of other disciplines as well as architecture. The increasing sensibility towards environment and energy problems force the different disciplines related with building production work together. The key concept of sustainability, approaching environment and energy problems and pointing careful using of nature and natural sources carefully to provide to carry them to the coming generations, is getting more and more accepted on local, regional and global scale. In this article, solutions for environment and energy problems coming from construction sector, alternative energy sources, source protection by caring about how to use renewable energy sources efficiently have been searched and analyzed to what extend this concept alters the architecture discipline within energy efficient building design samples, in the world and in Turkey.
