Abstract :
It is well known that, according to the working principle of carburetor vehicles, maximum fuel consumption takes place at high speeds as well as at idle state when the engine speed is high enough to overcome the friction and to keep on working without going dead. Because fuel valve is closed at idle speed, the fuel the engine needs to work comes through the throttle valve. Since efficiency of engine working on fuel that comes through this channel is very low, fuel consumption is quite high. However the state of high speed is characterized by wide open fuel valve and maximum air circulation, increasing fuel absorbtion to maximum. This study aims to experimentally measure and evaluate the mechanical vibrations taking place during the working of an experimental engine which has been structurally modified by the process of cylinder pacification to save fuel. It is essential that an an engine be able to work in harmony with all cylinders. In this study proper working of the engine had to be kept under control when two cylinders went dysfunctional. To this end vibration measures concerning smooth working of the engine in transition were taken. Satisfactory measures as well as as 29% of fuel save have been obtained.
