Abstract :
Thermal insulation is necessary in our country to obtain the identification of energy. For the insulation of structures with various insulating materials, the most common method is to make the exterior sheathing. The fire performance of insulation materials used is very important for the safety of life and material. The most used material type is EPS, XPS, foam, rock-wool and glass- wool for isolation of buildings. Rock-wool and glass-wool are the best durable materials to fire, however they are very expensive. EPS and XPS starts to soften at low temperatures (about 80°C). This is not only a financial losses but also a contribution to CO2 and global warming. In this study, behavior of Grey-EPS, White-EPS and XPS with the same thicknesses of plaster during the fire was investigated. The claddings were exposed to fire for different durations. At the end of experimental studies, it was observed that insulation materials were deformed in large quantities depending on fire duration.
