Abstract :
Wind energy potential was analyzed with statistical methods by using daily average wind speed data of 2000-2010 year of Tokat Meteorology Station. Statistical average wind speed and power density were calculated by using Weibull, Rayleigh, statistical log-normal and gamma distribution functions that have not been used before in this region. Least squares method that has a smaller standard deviation was used to determine the parameters of distributions. Root mean square error (RMSE) and mean square error (MSE) criteria were used in the comparison of distribution performance. The average wind speeds were observed lower in February and March, higher in November and December. When the MSE and RMS values examined Weibull distribution is more reliable than other methods. The lowest MSE value 0.0011 is calculated probability distribution of March. According to the distribution function error range are observed in the range of 0.0011 to 7.9609.
