Abstract :
In this study, for examining the effect of wind power systems on energy systems, three new heuristic methods were compared to solve economic dispach problem of wind-thermal (hybrid) plants. These three heuristic algorithms are Big-Bang Big-Crunch (BB-BC), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) that is generally used in optimization area and Ions Motion Optimization (IMO) which is newly developed. The objective function (the cost function) was solved to have minimum value in minimum time interval which can be affective on electricity system operator. The results were evaluated with different aspects (i.e. run-time, best value) avaible in the literature. The results of the comparison demonstrated that BB-BC algorithm and PSO algorithm were more effective than IMO algorithm.
