Abstract
Aggregates are important for concrete since %75 of the concrete consists of them. However, the used aggregates must comply with TS 706 EN 12620+A1 standard. Basalt, today s construction and transport sectors; highways, railways, ports and airports in the construction is preferred due to the robust and durable. In this research, the conformity of crushed stones to concrete aggregates standard is investigated. The stones were produced in the crushing-screening plant of Ilıca (Kütahya) quarry. Taken samples were subjected to size reduction, sample reduction and classification by size processes. After that, they were classified as thin (0-4 mm) and large (4-11,2 mm and 11,2-22,4 mm) aggregates. Moreover, in order to determine the characteristics of the samples petrographic, mineralogical (polarizing microscope, SEM-EDS and XRD), chemical, physical and mechanical tests were applied. According to these tests and analysis; it is determined that basalt aggregates conforms to “TS 706 EN 12620+A1 Concrete Aggregates” standard and crushed stones can be used as aggregate in ready-mixed concrete.
