Abstract :

Arif Nihat Asya, who is one of the prominent agents of our republican poetry, was born during a period, when Turkish nation was facing with great tribulations. His childhood and youth were spent in personal uneasiness on top of the general situation. The poet, who had performed as a literature teacher at the Eskişehir High School during the academic year 1954- 1955, composed poerty on the various aspects of this city during his period of office and afterwards. Yunus is at the centre of these poems. Arif Nihat, who is also a Mevlevi, had shown a special interest in Yunus, who is a cornerstone in our literature and history of mystical perception and thinking. With its warm waters, with River Porsuk, which divides the city into two and its beauties Eskişehir is a focus of interest. This study is developed on the basis of how Arif Nihat’s interest in Eskişehir is reflected in poetry and aims to emphasize the relationship between poetry and environment.
